The B. S. Negi MPPS Auditorium came alive on4 December 2025 with the mesmerizing notes of Indian classical music as the sansthan hosted a SPIC MACAY programme featuring Grammy-nominated sitar virtuoso Shri Gaurav Mazumdar, accompanied by the exceptionally talented Sh. Zaheen Khan on the tabla. The event was organized to introduce students to the rich cultural and musical heritage of India and to inspire them through the depth and beauty of classical arts.The programme began with the felicitation of the esteemed guests with a bouquet and the traditional Uttarakhand cap by the Principal Mrs. Namita Mamgain. This was followed by a brief introduction to SPIC MACAY’s mission of promoting classical art forms among the youth. Following this, Shri Gaurav Mazumdar took the stage and captivated the audience with an enchanting alap, unfolding the raga with patience, purity, and grace. His mastery over the sitar, combined with his soulful interpretation of the raga, created an atmosphere of serenity in the auditorium.He was ably accompanied by Sh. Zaheen Khan, whose rhythmic precision and dynamic improvisations on the tabla added energy and depth to the performance. The jugalbandi between the sitar and tabla particularly enthralled the students, who listened with keen interest and appreciation.Throughout the programme, the artists also interacted with the students, explaining the structure of a classical performance, the significance of ragas and talas, and the discipline required to master such art forms. This interactive element helped students connect more deeply with the music and understand its cultural importance.The session concluded with a vote of thanks, acknowledging SPIC MACAY and the guest artists for providing students with a memorable and enriching musical experience. The programme succeeded in inspiring curiosity and admiration for Indian classical music among the young audience.
